CONAI

The National Consortium for Recovery and Recycling of Cellulose Packaging (CONAI) is a private non-profit organization. It is one of Europe’s largest consortia, with over 1.4 million subscribers, bringing together packaging producers and users to recover and recycle packaging waste through an integrated management system.

The CONAI system works with packaging producers, importers, companies, public authorities, local communities and citizens. Its strength is the principle of shared responsibility in waste management.

From 1 January 2018, the environmental contribution for paper packaging came into force at €10 per tonne.

From 1 January 2019, the CONAI contribution became €20 per tonne.
