- 58% of the respondents are inclined to put a higher fee on plastic-based packaging;
- 66% want to receive a product purchased online in paper rather than plastic packaging.
One of the sectors most affected by the need for change is the large-scale retail trade, which has been under great pressure to reduce the use of disposable plastic bags. Retailers offer different solutions for their customers’ shopping bags and, according to the study by Two Sides, relevant data emerges. Consumers prefer a paper shopping bag for the following reasons:
- 52% of consumers prefer paper-based composite bags due to their recyclability;
- 43% of respondents prefer a bag made of renewable materials;
- 47% believe that paper shopping bags are better in terms of compostability.
